boswell - mourot fine art
Frank Colcord
I started taking photographs in high school, developing my own black
and white images. I kept doing this in college, and then gradually

learned about color work from my father's friend, William Eggleston. I
learned from him a particular intensity of looking. I have
photographed in color since then.

I am more interested in the way of looking than in what I am looking

at. My frame of mind, my curiosity of the sense of space is as
important in the photographs as the subject.

If the photograph is just about the subject, it gets boring. If the
photograph conveys a frame of mind, I am happy to look at it often.

My goal is to take photographs that people like to have on their
walls, which they are happy to look at frequently.

I am reluctant to put the photographs into words, since they are not
about what words would say. They are about a way of looking.
