Sharon Locke
Since a young child Sharon has enjoyed working with her hands in activities including interior design projects, jewelry, sculpture and photography. She loves finding interesting patterns in trees, nature, metal structures as well as other items with lines and patterns, as seen in her current work. Currently, she transfers digital photographic prints to paper or canvas by use of the giclee printing method, which uses archival pigment inks and a much wider color range than traditional printing. She then uses photographic oil paints to emphasize details and create effects.

"My inspiration comes from feelings and emotions from past and present experiences," Sharon explains. "When sitting in front of the canvas photograph I close my eyes and let the colors flow to me."

Sharon uses the realism of photography and the limitless opportunities for change with paints to create a sense of heightened realism. Like dreams overlaying intense shared memories (the photographs themselves glimpsed beneath the paint), Sharon's art seeks to evoke a relationship between the artist and the viewer. "I want my work to be both whimsical at times and serious enough to speak emotionally to anyone and everyone who has felt the magic of remembering something special they've seen or experienced in life."

Sharon works and lives in Little Rock, Arkansas with her husband, three sons, dog, and cats.
