Maggie Russell
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Maggie Russell received her BFA from Hendrix College in 2008.  During her time spent at Hendrix College, Russell received recognition for her work through various juried shows in which she was awarded first and second place gifts.  In 2006, Hendrix College’s Odyssey Program approved and funded a proposal for a summer long painting and drawing marathon with the famed New York Studio School, housed in the original Whitney Museum of Fine Art. Russell’s work has been published in Aonian’s student publication and Memphis’ Deliberate Literate publication.

Maggie Russell is a young, and quickly blossoming artist.  Her work has been applauded both nationally and locally, from New York to Memphis, from Memphis to Little Rock.  In April of 2009, Russell was granted admission into Cranbrook Academy of Art, ranked number four in the nation for its MFA program.  In addition, Memphis College of Art awarded Russell both admittance and scholarship for its MFA program.  In August of 2009, Russell will begin her MFA studies at Memphis College of Art.  As she pursues her education, Russell will maintain a dialogue with the Arkansas Arts community through various commissions and deep attachment to the life and quality of art in the Little Rock area.
