Holly Laws

Holly Laws embraces a multidisciplinary approach to artmaking, guided by a curiosity for materials and processes of all kinds. She often works with labor-intensive techniques rooted in craft, specific trades, or traditions historically associated with women’s work, as opposed to fine art. Trained as a sculptor, her experience also includes costume, puppet, and prop design and fabrication for film and theater. She has collaborated with playwrights, sound designers, and fellow visual artists on multimedia installations and performances. Laws is most content in her studio, where the focused, hands-on process of making sculpture allows her ideas to take form. She holds a BFA in Sculpture from Virginia Commonwealth University and an MFA in Sculpture from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Art and Design at the University of Central Arkansas.
