Sharon Locke

Since a young child Sharon has enjoyed working with her hands in activities including interior design projects, jewelry design, painting, sculpture, and photography. She loves finding interesting patterns in trees, nature, metal structures as well as other items with lines and patterns, as seen in her current work. Currently she is focusing on a body of work using minimal colors and design to evoke a calmness.

Sharon gets a lot of ideas when she is falling asleep at night. Vision after vision after vision. Sometimes she writes them down, but usually just hopes they find their way to her canvas. “My inspiration comes from feelings and emotions from past and present experiences,” Sharon explains. “When sitting in front of the canvas, I often close my eyes and let the colors flow to me.”

Sharon uses her photography and the limitless opportunities for change with paints and technique to create art. Like dreams overlaying intense shared memories, Sharon’s art seeks to evoke a relationship between the artist and the viewer. “I want my work to speak emotionally to anyone and everyone who has felt the magic of remembering something special they have seen or experienced in life.”​
